Semifinals Set for Friday Night
The eighth edition of the NYvsNY basketball tournament returns to Victory Park in New York, bringing together some of the city’s most promising youth teams. Semifinal games will be played on Friday, with the championship matches following on Saturday, offering a full weekend of high‑energy hoops.
In the girls bracket, West 4th from Manhattan, the defending 2025 champions, will face a Dykman squad that fell short in last year’s title game and is now seeking revenge. The boys side features a clash between Tri‑State and Lincoln Park, with Tri‑State looking to add another crown after capturing the 2024 championship.
Championship games are scheduled for Saturday afternoon, with the girls semifinal tipping off at 4 p.m. and the boys semifinal at 7 p.m. The winners will be crowned in each division, capping a weekend that also includes middle‑school contests and a three‑on‑three tournament featuring local creators.
The event, created by Nike in 2017, has become a summer staple for New York basketball fans. This year’s edition will also host a Foot Locker newsstand and showcase a host of community activities, drawing attention from NBA star Jalen Brunson and Liberty standout Sabrina Ionescu, who are expected to make appearances.
Beyond the competition, the tournament serves as a showcase for local talent and a platform for emerging creators. Organizers say the blend of sport, culture, and community engagement continues to strengthen the city’s basketball roots, making NYvsNY a beloved fixture on the city’s summer calendar.
