Roku and NWSL Extend Live Streaming Deal
The National Women’s Soccer League announced a multi‑year agreement that will make its matches available live on the Roku Sports Channel beginning August 30, 2024. The partnership expands the league’s digital footprint, delivering eight Sunday night games in 2026 and 25 in 2027.
All of the selected matches will be offered free of charge, accessible through Roku devices, the Roku website, mobile platforms and a range of smart‑TV partners. This broad distribution aims to place NWSL content in front of more than half of U.S. streaming households.
Strategic Reach and Audience Growth
Joe Franzetta, Head of Sports at Roku, said the collaboration leverages Roku’s extensive user base to give fans a consistent, easy‑to‑find destination for women’s soccer. He highlighted the channel’s ability to reach a nationwide audience across both traditional and emerging viewing habits.
Rachel Epstein, NWSL Chief Marketing Officer, added that Roku’s platform is uniquely positioned to amplify the league’s brand and deepen fan engagement, especially as the sport continues to grow at the grassroots level.
The inaugural broadcast will feature Reign FC taking on the Houston Dash on August 30, 2024, marking the first live NWSL match streamed exclusively through Roku’s sports offering.
