Shamurad Umarov, a redshirt junior offensive lineman, is set to begin his fourth year with the Tennessee Volunteers in the 2026 season, entering with two years of eligibility remaining.
Early Path to Knoxville
Umarov arrived in Knoxville after a high‑school career at Denmark High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he was already drawing attention from SEC programs. He enrolled at Tennessee in December 2022, participating in Orange Bowl practices that gave him a head start on the program’s scheme.
During his first season in 2023 he redshirted, appearing in four games before earning a scholarship the following year. By 2025 he had logged 13 appearances, starting 10 at left guard and playing 758 offensive snaps without surrendering a sack, a performance that earned him praise from coaches and teammates alike.
The 2026 campaign opens on September 5 at Neyland Stadium against Furman, a game that will be streamed on SEC Network+ at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The Volunteers’ schedule includes marquee matchups at home against Texas, Auburn, Alabama and LSU, while road trips are slated for Georgia Tech, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
What the Numbers Mean
Umarov’s 837 career offensive snaps and 10 starts to date reflect a steady increase in responsibility. His 2025 season saw him protect the pocket on 758 plays, a testament to both his durability and the trust placed in him by the offensive line unit.
With two years of eligibility left, the lineman is positioned to be a key anchor for the Volunteers as they look to build on recent successes and push for a deeper run in the SEC. His blend of size, technique and experience makes him one of the most reliable interior linemen returning for the next cycle.
