At just 15 years old, Tristan McKee is poised to rewrite the record books as he prepares for his NASCAR Truck Series debut at Richmond Raceway on August 14, 2026.
A Milestone Moment for Young Talent
The Williamsburg, Virginia native will climb into the No. 77 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports, stepping in for Carson Hocevar, who is sidelined by commitments in the Cup Series. The race, known as the Black’s Tire 250, will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
McKee’s rapid ascent began when he signed with Spire Motorsports as a development driver in January 2025, at the tender age of 14. Since then, he has dominated the ARCA Menards Series East, securing three victories and a third‑place finish in his first five starts, propelling him to second in the championship standings.
Despite his youth, the teenager will contest five Truck Series events in 2026, with dates confirmed at New Hampshire, Bristol, Phoenix and Martinsville. Age restrictions, however, bar him from four of the remaining ovals, all of which exceed 1.5 miles in length, limiting his full‑season participation.
The upcoming debut comes at a fortuitous moment for Spire Motorsports. Team principal Michael McDowell, the 2021 Daytona 500 winner, is expected to remain in the Cup Series through 2027, opening the possibility that McKee could eventually replace him in the No. 71 Chevrolet.
If the plan unfolds as anticipated, the youngster will not only become the youngest driver ever to start a Truck Series race but also the first teenager to earn a full‑time ride in the series, a milestone that could reshape the pathway for future prodigies.
