A teenage prodigy prepares for his NASCAR debut
Spire Motorsports confirmed this week that Tristan McKee, a 15‑year‑old prodigy from the United States, will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut later this season behind the wheel of the No. 77 truck.
McKee, who celebrates his 16th birthday on August 3, meets the age requirement to compete on both road courses and ovals of 1.25 miles or less, a rule that has opened the door for younger competitors.
His first appearance is slated for the penultimate race of the regular season at Richmond Raceway, after which he is scheduled to run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Phoenix Raceway and Martinsville Speedway.
McKee arrives in the Truck Series with a résumé that includes multiple victories in the ARCA Menards Series East and the CARS Pro Late Model Tour, highlighted by an ARCA win at Watkins Glen last August that made him the second‑youngest winner in series history.
Team principal Tony Stewart praised the young driver’s talent and discipline, noting that the partnership with Pinnacle Racing Group adds a strategic dimension to the program as the team looks to blend experience with emerging talent.
The move reflects a broader trend of NASCAR encouraging fresh talent from diverse racing backgrounds, a strategy that could reshape the composition of future line‑ups.
