A New Era for Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee Athletics confirmed a historic shift in its apparel strategy, announcing that adidas will replace Nike as the primary provider of uniforms and merchandise. The move, which took effect at the start of the 2026 season, introduces a fresh palette of orange, white, Summitt Blue and black that will be featured across football, basketball and other varsity sports.
The debut collection was accompanied by a teaser video from the football program that hinted at an upcoming Smokey Grey uniform. The gray iteration, originally re‑introduced in 2022 and refreshed annually through 2025, has become a coveted design element among fans, and its potential return has sparked considerable excitement on social media.
Head coach Josh Heupel voiced his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing that the new uniform lineup reflects a commitment to innovation while honoring the program’s heritage. He noted that the collaboration with adidas will provide current student‑athletes with cutting‑edge apparel and create pathways for future talent to benefit from enhanced resources and visibility.
Beyond aesthetics, the transition is expected to strengthen the university’s brand presence on a national stage. By aligning with a global sports leader, Tennessee aims to amplify recruiting efforts, deepen community engagement and deliver a consistent visual identity that resonates with alumni and supporters across the country.
