The University of Tennessee has turned heads with the debut of its fresh orange basketball jerseys, a move that signals the school's return to Adidas after a long stint with Nike.
A Strategic Shift in Branding
Starting this week, the Vols will unveil a new uniform color each day, turning the campus into a living runway as each release is tied to a specific hue and marks the beginning of a week‑long rollout.
The Smokey Grey uniform, inspired by the football program's heritage, will be held back for a later reveal because of its design ties to the gridiron.
Alicia Longworth, Tennessee's Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Marketing Officer, said the initiative reflects the school's dedication to every sport and its ambition to showcase student‑athletes in the best possible light.
Adidas executives have expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the brand's excitement to collaborate with Tennessee's student‑athletes and to bring fresh designs to the collegiate market.
Each uniform release will also spotlight a different sport, giving each athletic program a moment in the spotlight throughout the week.
