Texas Tech Renames Stadium After Galaxy in $75 Million Deal

The 15‑year agreement replaces Jones AT&T Stadium and signals a new era of commercial partnership in college athletics.

A New Naming Rights Era for Texas Tech Football

Texas Tech University has entered into a 15‑year, $75 million naming‑rights agreement with Galaxy, a provider of technology and data‑center infrastructure, to rename its football stadium. The arrangement replaces the long‑standing moniker Jones AT&T Stadium and will see Galaxy’s branding displayed prominently at midfield.

Under the deal, Galaxy will also secure sponsorship across the Red Raiders’ football program as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams, while creating branded content and opportunities for student‑athletes to profit from name, image and likeness (NIL) initiatives. Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt described the partnership as a bold step toward reinventing athletic administration and positioning college sports for a new era of commercial collaboration.

The agreement reflects a broader shift in collegiate athletics, where institutions are leveraging naming rights to fund facilities and generate new revenue streams. It also marks the end of a nearly two‑decade partnership with AT&T, which had held the naming rights since the stadium’s opening.

The legacy of Clifford B. Jones, the university’s third president who oversaw the original construction of the venue in the 1940s, will be honored elsewhere on the campus. His name will be enshrined in a dedicated area of the stadium grounds, ensuring that his contributions to Texas Tech’s athletic infrastructure are remembered alongside the new corporate partnership.
