The Clash Returns to Daytona in 2027
NASCAR announced that its annual exhibition race, known as The Clash, will make its comeback at Daytona International Speedway in February 2027, ending a six‑year stint away from the historic 2.5‑mile oval.
The event, backed by Wheatley American Vodka, will not award points toward the championship but will serve as the final tune‑up for the Daytona 500, which is set for February 21, 2027.
The Clash first became a fixture at Daytona from 1979 through 2021, after which the series experimented with alternative venues, including the Los Angeles Memorial Stadium in 2022 and 2023 and the historic Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston‑Salem, North Carolina, for the 2025 and 2026 editions.
Both the 2025 and 2026 races were delayed twice due to severe winter weather, with snow‑covered roads in North Carolina forcing organizers to postpone the events and reschedule them for later in the year.
Beyond the logistical shifts, the race has been part of NASCAR’s broader effort to broaden its grassroots footprint, giving emerging teams and drivers a high‑profile platform before the premier series begins.
