A Season of Recognition Across the Heartland
The 2026 girls soccer campaign in central Wisconsin proved to be a showcase of depth and talent, with teams from Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids all producing standout athletes. The geographic spread of talent was evident as players from small towns and larger cities alike brought home conference honors and state accolades.
Kodi Rappe from Medford capped the year with a first‑team Great Northern selection, while Addelyn Elliot of Merrill stood out as the sole Blue Jay to earn an all‑conference nod in that league. In the Wisconsin Valley Conference, Brynn Kampmann of D.C. Everest secured a first‑team all‑conference spot, and Ariana Aceves joined her on the same honor roll.
Amelia Castleberg of Stevens Point emerged as the most decorated player, being named WVC Player of the Year and earning a second‑team all‑state berth. She was the only athlete to record multiple hat tricks, finishing the season with five. Isabelle Stevens and Maddy Weller also received first‑team all‑conference honors in the WVC, rounding out a strong local presence on the list.
Other notable recognitions included Olivia Colwell and Mercedes Kelly from Wausau West, both earning first‑team all‑conference status, and Claire Mitchell from Wis. Rapids Lincoln, who received a similar nod. Keira Raab from Marshfield was the sole Tiger to make the first team, while Eliana Schmidt from Wausau East garnered consideration for the same honor.
The defensive excellence of Binne Braunger from D.C. Everest was highlighted by an all‑state selection as a goalkeeper and a first‑team all‑conference pick. Meanwhile, Kendall Baneck from Wis. Rapids Lincoln added his name to the first‑team all‑conference list, completing a diverse set of awardees across the region.
These achievements reflect more than individual skill; they signal a growing pipeline of talent that could shape the next generation of collegiate and possibly professional players. Communities from Marshfield to Wisconsin Rapids rallied around their teams, celebrating each milestone and looking ahead to the future of girls soccer in the area.
