U.S. Men’s National Team Announces 26‑Man Roster for 2026 World Cup

Coach Mauricio Pochettino reveals a squad heavy with MLS talent ahead of the historic home tournament

U.S. head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the 26‑player squad that will represent the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first World Cup to be staged on home soil.

MLS’s Growing Influence

The lineup features eight players currently plying their trade in Major League Soccer, a group that includes goalkeepers Chris Brady, Matt Freese and Matt Turner, all of whom will be looking to protect the net on home ground.

Pochettino highlighted that 81 percent of the roster are either MLS homegrown products or have developed through MLS academies, underscoring the league’s role in shaping the national team.

The tournament, co‑hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The U.S. men’s team has been placed in Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia and Türkiye.

This marks the 12th World Cup appearance for the USMNT and their first under Pochettino, who previously managed some of Europe’s top clubs before taking charge of the national side in September 2024. The squad also includes experienced defenders such as Max Arfsten, Tim Ream and Miles Robinson, as well as midfielders Sebastian Berhalter and Cristian Roldan, both recent members of the 2025 MLS Best XI.
