A Strategic Partnership Announced
Wheatley American Vodka has entered a multi‑year agreement that makes it the official vodka sponsor of NASCAR and the title entitlement partner of the annual Wheatley Vodka Clash, scheduled for February 2027 at Daytona International Speedway. The deal reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, tradition and immersive fan engagement.
Produced at the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, the vodka carries the name of its master distiller, Harlen Wheatley, whose legacy is woven into the brand’s identity. This regional connection underscores the partnership’s emphasis on heritage and local roots.
Jake Krantz, NASCAR’s senior director of national sales, highlighted that the collaboration aligns perfectly with the sport’s core values. "We are excited to bring a vodka that embodies the same dedication to quality and community that our fans expect," he said.
Under the agreement, Wheatley will enjoy extensive marketing and promotion rights across the vodka category, including a custom 30‑second promotional spot and on‑site activations that deepen fan interaction during race weekends.
A collaborative program will also support service members and military veterans, with details to be announced later. The initiative reflects a broader effort to give back to the communities that surround both the sport and the spirit.
David Binder, senior brand director for Wheatley, added that the partnership is a natural extension of the brand’s focus on quality and community. "Our goal is to elevate the NASCAR fan experience while celebrating the craftsmanship that defines our product," he explained.
Historical Context and Industry Movements
The deal follows a period of transition in NASCAR’s beverage partnerships. Proximo Spirits’ Cuervo previously held the role of official tequila partner, and earlier attempts by Sazerac to acquire Jack Daniel’s parent Brown‑Forman for $15 billion were rejected, illustrating the competitive landscape of the spirits sector.
By positioning itself at the intersection of premium spirits and motorsports, Wheatley aims to capture the attention of a demographic that values both tradition and experiential marketing, setting the stage for a new chapter in sports‑related alcohol branding.
