Spanish Fort’s Toros Aim for Playoff Return in 2026
Spanish Fort’s football program, known as the Toros, is preparing for a comeback season that could restore its place in the postseason after a rare absence in 2025. Head coach Chase Smith leads a youthful squad with just five seniors, emphasizing chemistry and talent development. Senior quarterback Jaylyn “JJ” Thibodeaux will take over from Aaden Shamburger, bringing leadership and teammate rapport. The defense returns veterans such as Sam Wilder, Brandon Marino and Tom Coker, while younger backs vie for starting spots. The Toros open the 2026 campaign at home versus Daphne on August 20 and will begin Class 5A Region play on the road at Elberta in Week 3.
