A Legendary Program Gets a Fresh Coaching Direction
A storied basketball camp nestled in the hills of Santa Barbara is poised for a new chapter. US Sports Camps announced that Chris Oliver, founder of Basketball Immersion and a coach celebrated for his game‑based methodology, will head the Snow Valley Basketball School this summer.
The two‑week sessions, kicking off on July 12, 2026, will welcome athletes aged 11 to 18, offering a blend of skill drills, team concepts and individualized feedback. The program, founded in 1961, has long been a proving ground for future talent, and its reputation for rigorous yet supportive instruction remains intact.
Oliver’s Global Coaching Vision
Oliver’s approach centers on real‑time decision‑making and immersive play, a philosophy that has resonated with national programs across more than 50 countries. His work with the NBA’s Elite Youth Basketball League and collaborations with Nike’s EYBL have already reshaped coaching curricula, and his upcoming role at Snow Valley promises to infuse the camp with that same global perspective.
Spotlight on a WNBA Icon
Adding to the camp’s star power, WNBA legend Diana Taurasi will also lead a session, bringing her elite experience and competitive fire to the next generation of players.
Beyond the court, the camp emphasizes personal growth, small‑group instruction and tailored evaluations, ensuring each participant leaves with a clearer understanding of the game and a deeper love for it.
