Kaulig Racing chief executive Chris Rice has spoken openly about the possibility of locking AJ Allmendinger into a lifelong agreement with the organization, a move that would cement the driver’s place as a cornerstone of the team’s future.
Allmendinger celebrated his 500th Cup Series start at Sonoma Raceway in the Toyota/Save Mart 350, a milestone that underscores a career spanning NASCAR, IndyCar and IMSA, where he has earned two Cup victories and 16 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series wins, as well as the 2012 24 Hours of Daytona triumph in IMSA.
Beyond the Checkered Flag
The driver’s current contract runs through 2029, with an option that could stretch it to 2032, a timeline that would allow him to surpass 600 Cup starts if he remains active. Rice noted that Allmendinger will decide when to step away from full‑time competition, but the team intends to keep him involved as a mentor to upcoming talent, echoing the developmental role once held by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
