Jaxson Davis, a 6‑foot‑3 point guard from the 2027 high school class, sits at No. 41 in the national rankings and is already drawing attention for a versatile skill set that blends scoring, playmaking, rebounding and steals.
In 16 games this season he is averaging 15.1 points, 5.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 steals, while surpassing the 2,000‑point milestone and dropping a 51‑point performance in a championship contest.
Davis recently announced a move to Monarch Academy in Kansas City, a step he says is designed to sharpen his game against tougher competition and to better position himself for the college recruiting process.
Why Iowa is on the radar
Iowa’s head coach Ben McCollum has built a reputation for developing point guards, a track record that includes former Iowa standout Bennett Stirtz, who was selected 16th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The Hawkeyes’ system, which emphasizes spacing, ball movement and defensive pressure, aligns with Davis’s own style, and the program’s recent success has put it on his short list that also features Michigan State, Creighton, Ohio State, Marquette and Minnesota.
Iowa already holds a commitment from four‑star forward Keller Daugherty, and adding Davis would bolster a 2027 class that is shaping up to be one of the most talent‑laden in recent memory.
Brian Davis, Jaxson’s father, stresses that style of play, coaching relationships and academic fit will all factor into his son’s final decision, underscoring the importance of a holistic college experience.
