Nike and the Women's Super League (WSL) Football have jointly unveiled the official match balls that will be used in the 2026/27 season, marking a fresh chapter for the league's flagship competitions.
A new era for women's football
The new ball features a striking colour‑blocking pattern of blue, red, pink and black rings that create a strobe‑like effect when the ball spins, while a gold Nike Swoosh sits at its centre. Built with Nike's OMNISculpt technology, the ball promises truer flight and a larger sweet spot thanks to its four‑panel construction and staggered seams.
All Conditions Control technology ensures consistent grip in both wet and dry conditions, and the ball will debut on 4 September across the Barclays Women's Super League, Barclays Women's Super League 2 and the Subway Players Cup, as well as in pre‑season training sessions.
The rollout is accompanied by an expanded support programme that will provide every player in the WSL and WSL 2 with Nike boots and goalkeeper gloves, a continuation of a scheme that delivered over 1,500 pairs last season. In addition, training packs comprising tops, sports bras, bottoms and footwear will be made available to the 340 uncontracted players who opt in, ensuring that all athletes, regardless of contract status, have access to high‑performance apparel.
Fans will be able to purchase the new balls and the accompanying apparel collection from retail outlets at the start of the season, while Nike says the partnership is aimed at creating bigger moments, greater visibility and more opportunities for women's football.
