Auburn’s preseason test against Florida State
Auburn’s basketball program will open its season with a preseason exhibition against Florida State on October 14 at Birmingham’s historic Boutwell Auditorium, marking the second consecutive year the Tigers have chosen the venue to launch their campaign.
Coach Steven Pearl, who took over the program last year, expressed enthusiasm about the matchup, noting that the game offers a valuable chance for his squad to test new schemes and build chemistry in front of a home crowd.
Florida State arrives under second‑year head coach Luke Loucks, who posted an 18‑15 record in his debut season in 2025. The Seminoles will field a blend of experience and fresh talent, including former Missouri point guard Anthony Robinson and newcomers Cooper Schwieger and Sebastian Rancik.
Auburn counters with a backcourt anchored by returning guards Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, while the roster also welcomes transfers Thomas Dowd from Troy and 7‑foot‑1 center Bukky Oboye from Santa Clara, adding depth and size down low.
