Garage 66, the MBM Motorsports operation, has confirmed that it will not field its No. 66 entry at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend, marking the second time the team has withdrawn from a Cup Series event in 2026.
A second exit from the schedule
The decision follows a pattern that began earlier in the year when the team also pulled out of the Atlanta Motor Speedway race, leaving only two non‑chartered cars on the entry list for the upcoming eero 400.
Series officials have listed 38 cars for the Chicago event, but only two of those will be fielded by teams without charter status, underscoring the limited grid space for independent programs.
Drivers slated to take the wheel of the No. 66 car have yet to be announced, though the team has a history of rotating talent such as Josh Bilicki, who is expected to make his second start of the season, and Timmy Hill, who has appeared multiple times in the car this year.
Chad Finchum, who logged a career‑best 28th place at Nashville Superspeedway in May, currently leads all drivers in starts behind the wheel of the No. 66, while J.J. Yeley will pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet for NY Racing Team, and Corey Heim will make his first Cup appearance since capturing a victory at Naval Base Coronado.
Looking ahead
MBM Motorsports says it will continue to campaign the No. 66 at a handful of upcoming venues, including North Wilkesboro, Richmond, Darlington, Bristol, Charlotte, and Talladega, but the team must still finalize driver contracts and secure sponsorship before those dates.
