NASCAR has announced that Rockingham Speedway will no longer appear on the 2027 national schedule, a decision driven by the track’s precarious ownership situation despite a history of sell‑out crowds for its O’Reilly Auto Parts and Craftsman Truck events.
Rockingham’s exit
The cancellation marks the first time since 2004 that the historic North Carolina venue will be absent from the tour, a year after the Cup Series last raced there with Matt Kenseth taking the checkered flag.
According to a July report by Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic, series officials concluded that Rockingham was no longer a viable venue for future competition.
All‑Star Race relocates
Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston‑Salem will not host the preseason Clash in 2027, and the iconic All‑Star Race is set to return to North Wilkesboro, though it will not serve as a points‑paying Cup Series date.
Charlotte Motor Speedway, meanwhile, secures its traditional double‑header, headlined by the Coca‑Cola 600, ensuring a stable anchor for the 2027 calendar.
