A fresh look that honors tradition
Ohio State football is rolling out an evolved version of its iconic core uniforms for the 2026 season and beyond. The home and away ensembles, which have defined Buckeye football for decades, now receive a subtle but striking upgrade that ties the visual identity to the program’s storied past.
The most noticeable change is the metallic silver sleeve stripe, a direct homage to the silver helmets that have long been a hallmark of the team. This evolved Buckeye Stripe was crafted in collaboration with Nike, ensuring that the sheen of the sleeves perfectly matches the helmets’ finish.
Design details extend beyond the sleeves. A refreshed Block O crest now adorns the chest, while the interior of the collar features a festoon pattern that echoes the architectural motifs of Ohio Stadium. These touches were overseen by Howard Dwight Smith, the architect whose vision shaped the stadium’s iconic façade.
Performance was a key driver in the redesign. The uniforms are built on Nike’s Vapor F.U.S.E. platform, which incorporates lightweight, stretch‑woven fabric and laser perforations to enhance breathability and mobility. The result is a garment that looks modern on the field while delivering the functional benefits athletes demand.
Fans will be able to purchase replica jerseys and a full line of merchandise starting this July. The release coincides with a broader rollout of apparel that celebrates both the team’s heritage and its forward‑looking vision, a narrative that Woody Hayes, Ernie Biggs, Ross Bjork and other program legends have long championed.
