After a disappointing 3‑9 season, the Colorado Buffaloes are reshaping their approach under the guidance of Coach Deion Sanders, who has returned to the sidelines following a cancer battle. Defensive back Ben Finneseth has observed the coach’s frequent presence in the football building, noting his hands‑on involvement during the offseason. Finneseth, who was part of the squad that struggled for leadership last year, says the experience has clarified his own role. He now feels ready to step up, emphasizing that the team must rely on collective responsibility rather than individual heroics. Joining him, tight end Zach Atkins and receiver Danny Scudero echo the sentiment, stressing that teamwork and clear communication are essential. Scudero, a newcomer to the program, sees an opportunity to contribute to a culture of shared accountability. Beyond on‑field drills, the players have organized off‑field activities to foster camaraderie. Finneseth and several teammates pooled resources to purchase a fishing boat, using outings on the water as a way to build trust and show they care about each other. Coach Sanders, encouraged by these grassroots efforts, has voiced confidence that the Buffaloes are moving in the right direction. He believes the blend of player initiative and his own experience will translate into tangible progress as the 2026 season approaches.
